What Is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a hands-on manual therapy where I use my knowledge of  anatomy to assess and gently treat restrictions of motion in your body which could be impeding nerve, blood, venous and lymphatic drainage and delivery. Applied anatomy is: where it is in the body and what it does. This is a very gentle treatment with no high velocity low amplitude thrusts. Osteopathy is a holistic way of treating the body in that we consider how everything is inter-related.  I will be looking for the root cause of dysfunction, not just treating the symptoms of dysfunction. By restoring nerve, blood and lymphatic flow the body will be able to self heal and self maintain resulting in less pain, more movement and better sleep. “To find health should be the object… Anyone can find disease”- Andrew Taylor Still More about anatomy: Muscles move bones and joints; nerves tell the muscles what to do; venous blood drains away metabolic waste and returns to the heart / lungs for reoxygenation; arteries supply freshly nutrified blood to all tissues and is the life force of the body, lymphatic fluid is the backup drainage for any fluid lost in the venous system; fascia packages muscles and muscle compartments, protects the body from too much fluid movement, provides passages for nerves, and vessels, as well as communicates force and maintains postural integrity through tensile strength.

What is your location?

I will be working at various clinics, stay tuned to the "Book Now"  page for the most up to date locations.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable that you can move easily in, preferably loose fitting.

Tights are tight and can misrepresent lines of pull within the body. Dresses and suits do not allow for me to fully assess each joint.

PLEASE WEAR SOCKS

How often do I go for treatment?

Every body is different and each pattern of dysfunction is unique. Some acute problems I may need to see you a few days apart. Generally, once a week for starters and then we can space things out more. It might take 8-10 sessions to unwind your pattern. If it has been around for a long time (more chronic) it might take longer.

 Can you diagnose my injuries?

No, I am not a medical doctor. If you have an injury you should seek medical advice. I can help once you have been cleared for “manual treatment” by your doctor. Please get a Drs. note if you have had a muscle tear or bone fracture or any chronic disease.

We want to be safe in your treatment.

Happy Woman
Theresa is an amazing therapist- she is kind, professional and thorough. I saw her towards the end of my pregnancy and postpartum, and with both experiences, she was incredibly knowledgeable and gentle. I walked away feeling relaxed and with relief from some of the aches and pains I was dealing with. This was my first time experiencing osteopathic treatment  and I’m looking forward to continuing!

Woman

I’ve been seeing Theresa for a couple of years now, and she has made a huge difference in my quality of life. When I first came to her, I couldn’t sit for more than a few minutes because of severe hip pain. Progress wasn’t instant, but we worked steadily on it—and one day, while driving to work, I realized I was sitting comfortably and completely pain‑free for the first time in a year. Since then, she’s also helped with my shoulder, which I had been doing physio for forever. The improvement in both pain and mobility has been significant.

I’ll be honest—I wasn’t a believer in osteopathy before. Now I absolutely am. Theresa is skilled, thoughtful, and genuinely committed to helping you get your body back.
